Dear Editor, I refer to a recent statement from the Guyana Public Service Union reported in sections of the media which criticizes my remarks made at an Alliance For Change press conference held on Friday September, 23, 2016.

Gaskin has not justified CHEC procuring stone from Suriname for the CJIA expansion project

Dear Editor, The recent announcement by China Harbour Engineering Corporation (CHEC) that it had signed a US$7.5M contract with Suriname’s state-owned mining company, Grassalco, to supply some 300,000 tonnes of crushed stone over a twelve-month period for the CJIA expansion project (currently being executed by CHEC) has caused a public outcry from local manufacturers/suppliers.

Why the daily blackouts?

Dear Editor, A couple of weeks ago I and several others were writing to complain of the everyday blackouts and in several areas, low voltage, but despite this GPL or the relevant ministry has not been courteous enough to issue a statement or some kind of apology to the citizens affected.
