Dear Editor, I write in response to Mr Hydar Ally’s letter (‘Education is not in crisis’, SN, September 17). 

Dear Editor, It should be made compulsory that governmental and private sector employees state their name when answering the telephone.

Dear Editor, It was interesting to read that 484 acres of land will be put under rice cultivation at Wales Estate  by GuySuCo.

It is a few weeks short of three years since the then President, Donald Ramotar, launched the Micro and Small Enterprise Development (MSED) Programme in October 2013 with much aplomb at what is now the Arthur Chung Convention Centre.

Dear Editor, I unfortunately have to write with respect to the letter written by Mr Rawle Welch in the Kaieteur News of September 14.

Dear Editor, Why would former officials of the WICB demand forensic audits of the board at this time, implying that there might be financial improprieties of some sort at a time when you desperately want current management to voluntarily demit their offices?

An indispensable facet of good governance is the considerate presentation of important decisions and ensuring that there is transparency coupled with the willingness to provide explanations if challenged.

Dear Editor, The Acting Police Commissioner, is responding to an article in yesterday’s Sunday Stabroek on page two, under the caption `Region One education officials investigate strip-searching of female students’ with the strap line  `-in  presence of male police’.

Dear Editor, The Minister of Education in his recent address to the Education Day rally called on teachers to “take the stick and the wild-cane out of the school” and deal with discipline in a humane and a modern fashion.

Dear Editor, I am a student at the University of Guyana, and I would like to express my frustration at what can only be perceived as callousness and ineptitude on the part of the university administration.

The vendors’ story is well-worked terrain. The issues go back a long way, and the arguments in relation to them have not changed over the years.

Dear Editor, The appointment by President David Granger of a tribunal consistent with Article 225 of the Guyana Constitution to inquire into the conduct of Carvil Duncan who holds a constitutional office is noted.
