While the EPA and the Pesticides Board are fiddling with regard to the granting of approval to do aerial spraying, the rice farmers are now facing the brunt of the assault from widespread paddy bug infestation.
Politicians live in a different dimension from the rest of us, which is why they are frequently incapable of relating their actions to their words, or of following through on matters of principle.

Despite what former Prime Minister Samuel Hinds wrote about the absence of corruption in agencies which fell under his former portfolio, and which was published in your March 31 edition, the economic hardship, institutional weaknesses, criminal justice inefficiencies as well as ethnic fractures in this country did provide fertile ground for corruption during the last administration.

I looked at a replay of the March 31 World Cup semi-final between India and the West Indies (which the West Indies won by scoring 146 runs in boundaries and sixes as opposed to 92 by India) in a less anxious frame of mind than watching it live, and noticed Shane Warne broadcasting while Samuels was at the wicket.
