Dear Editor,
I have noted with pleasure the interest that many Guyanese have shown in the role of local government, in the context of the upcoming local government elections (LGE) to be held on March 18, 2016.
Dear Editor,
It is very hard to find words to describe the West Indies team’s performance Down Under; ‘pathetic’ might describe the sad display of a team that once dominated the world of cricket.
Dear Editor,
Recently the Government of Guyana (GOG) entered into an agreement with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) to undertake a feasibility study as a precursor to establishing an agricultural and industrial development bank here in Guyana.
Dear Editor,
I awaited action from the authorities with respect to the letter by Pearly Munilall (SN, October 9, 2015) but seeing none I would like to make a few comments.
Dear Editor,
Commissioner Benn in his response to my last letter signalled that he will not engage in last lick (‘Alexander is attempting to distract the public’s focus…’ SN, December 12).
Dear Editor,
I was reading a news item on line about illegal schools operating in the United Kingdom, that caused me to reflect on the Guyana situation.
Dear Editor,
I have noted with much concern the outrageous comments articulated by many over the salary increases of ministers and all parliamentarians.
It is supremely ironic that at the very moment revelations from the audit report of NICIL have pointed to the flouting of procurement rules and the absence of competitive bidding under the previous PPP/C administration that the new government is now facing the same charges as it relates to its murky MoU with Fedders Lloyd for the specialty hospital.
Dear Editor,
In the last few days, SN has carried what is purported to be the final NICIL Forensic Report issued by Mr Anand Goolsarran, the appointed Forensic Auditor (FA) of NICIL.
Dear Editor.
I agree with Milton Bruce (‘We have refugees here in Guyana already’ SN, December 12) that we should assist internal refugees as a priority.
Dear Editor,
If press reports of his statements are accurate, (‘No extension for Rodney COI’ Kaieteur News, December 8; and ‘No more extension for Walter Rodney Commission of Inquiry’ Demerara Waves, December 7) Guyana’s Attorney General is not only disregarding the rules of conflict of interest, but as Minister of Legal Affairs and Attorney General, attempting to intimidate persons holding office under Guyana’s laws, and to assume a role from which his office should bar him until a report from the Walter Rodney Commission of Inquiry has been delivered.
