Dear Editor, First of all I wish to congratulate the APNU+AFC coalition government for presenting one of the best budgets in the past 23 years; it can be seen as a working class one with a quantum of relief given to all sectors, including a hefty increase in public service wages and salaries, old age pensions and public assistance; and the removal of taxes on a number of consumer goods.
Dear Editor, Former local journalist, Godfrey Wray’s letter from the diaspora titled, ‘Remi-grants don’t expect to be confronted with bottlenecks and indifference; (SN, August 14) got me thinking.

Dear Editor, On Thursday 6th August, 2015 when I was told by a hire car driver at Supenaam that he was assaulted by a prisoner who was at the time in police custody at the Supenaam Farmers Wharf, I could not believe what he was telling me, so I enquired from more than a dozen persons whom I know would normally be there, and the hire car driver’s story was true.
Last Monday Stabroek News reported that Dr Veerasammy Ramayya had left the AFC.
