Dear Editor, Articles by Dr. Tarron Khemraj appearing on his business page in SN 2023/09/24 and SN 2023/09/10 require some comments, since the use of ‘Balances from Abroad’ imply that Commercial Banks have readily available sources of foreign exchange that are liquid balances and can be deployed to make good any foreign exchange ‘shortage’ affecting the Private Sector.

Dear Editor, Heroin is being transshipped through Guyana, according to the compilers of the Global Organized Crime Index, in this, we are being asked to believe that a product from Asia is being shipped to South America for onward distribution to Europe and North America; not a great business model.

Dear Editor, When one hears of the disputes between Governments and a) Guyana Public Service Union, b) Guyana Teachers’ Union respectively, one has to wonder about the lack of sympathy of the former, who in the same breath endorses GAWU’s settlements of remuneration packages’ in new Collective Agreements.

The signs have been clear since the first days of this administration: the privatisation of public services is a policy.
