Cheap political and ‘safety’ points
Dear Editor, The level of political and social discourse over the Mahdia deaths has reached a new nadir.
Who will charge the government for its absolute and abysmal incompetence?
Dear Editor, It has been reported that charges will be made against the girl who allegedly caused the fire at the Mahdia dormitory.
We, the people, must hold the authorities accountable
Dear Editor, It is with great admiration I write to highlight government ministers’ interests and obsession over the children who perished in the fire disaster last week at Mahdia.
When a tragedy such as Mahdia happens, ministers must resign readily or be fired
Dear Editor, As soon as the Mahdia fire happened and news spread all over the world that 19 children died, the Government’s masterful propaganda put out a statement that the fire was set by a student.
I will confine myself to tangible assets
Dear Editor, It is satisfying to see Alfred Bhulai state that there is no such thing as ‘unlimited insurance’, we can both agree on that.

Dear Editor, I have two questions for Minister Edghill on IsDB for the new Wismar Mackenzie Bridge, extension date from 2022 and the cost for new bridge.

Contemplating a historic national shame
The National Archives – if they have, in the twenty first century, now been afforded a higher level of official mindfulness than had been the case more than two decades ago – would probably contain quite a few GIS (Government Infor-mation Services) publications lionizing ‘our Amerindians,’ saluting them as ‘our first people’ and setting down various envisaged undertakings designed to lift them from the children of the forest nomenclature that sought to describe the traditional manner of their existence.

Final exam for GED programme was cancelled, no word from those in charge
Dear Editor, The General Education Development (GED) programme was advertised as a hope for Guyanese; an opportunity for Guyanese everywhere, who did not gain passes of 5 subjects at CXC, to have a “do-over” of their education and a chance to secure a proper job or enter a university and further studies upon completion of the GED course, that was supposed to last six (6) months.
