Prayers in Maryland for peace and harmony in Guyana

Dear Editor, Last Sunday, April 6, 2007, was an evening of prayers and not politics, as a group of Guyanese and friends of Guyana in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC, gathered together at the Church in Bethesda (which is in Bethesda), a rather upscale city in Montgo-mery County, Maryland, to offer prayerful petitions to God for an end to the murders, wanton shedding of blood, crime, gang activities and the drug culture that is threatening to overtake our beloved country, Guyana.

The Forum is doing a good job

Dear Editor, Congratulations to the Forum on Solidarity and Effectiveness for its pro activism in holding the political parties accountable to the rest of the larger society, particularly in the context in which significant affairs of the nation are in many instances taken lightly or completely ignored by the government and opposition political parties.

Dear Editor, In a letter by Mr Philip Allsopp captioned “If the pattern of erosion is studied it is possible to predict where it will occur and plan maintenance accordingly” (08.04.08) he implied that Mr Malcolm Alli whom he did not identify in his letter but whose letters he referred to in Stabroek News stated that he seems to misunderstand the behavioural pattern of erosion on the Guyana Coast.
