Dear Editor, People should have the freedom to express their ideas on any subject if they are not maliciously offensive to others.

Dear Editor, It was with surprise and some dismay that I read the advertisement on Page 9 of the Stabroek News, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 entitled “Invest Today!”. 

Dear Editor, So many of our skilled/professional people are leaving to go to what they  believe to be greener pastures and those more patriotic ones willing to stay should be given the necessary encouragement, though in some cases  that is not why they stay.

Dear Editor,   It has become a matter of urgency to review the operational aspects of the local airline industry to determine whether it is meeting its obligations to users in a satisfactory manner.

Dear Editor, Can a developing country have democracy and at the same time achieve impressive gains in growth and  economic development? 

Dear Editor, For decades alcohol use has been a problem in Guyana, several individuals have shared their views on this issue by way of the media or over a buckman, grenade, half  or large, or the many promotions be it happy hour or the new happy two hours, buy one get one free, get six beers for the price of five etc. 

Dear Editor, The prices for food items continue to rise each day  and the average citizen is finding it very hard to cope with this situation.

Dear Editor, On a recent visit to the Rosignol Health Centre  I was disheartened to witness the factthat there is a lack of seating accommodation for persons awaiting an HIV test; many of these being pregnant mothers in various stages of pregnancy.

Dear Editor, Whenever the casualties of the Iraq war are discussed in the western media, the emphasis is on the U.S.

Dear Editor, It is with great concern that the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana (FUTUG) an organisation which represents the majority of unionized workers in Guyana, has noted a recent decision by the opposition parties to walk out of Parliament on March 27 2008 under the pretext that their amendment to the motion on a stakeholder’s decision was not accepted by the ruling party.

Dear Editor, The Guyanese ‘farmer’ and the Guyana ‘rural areas’ occupy a moral, productive and rather intellectually dishonest space in our city folks mental programmes.

The would-be debate that degenerated into a débâcle in the National Assembly last week was preventable but not entirely unpredictable.
