Dear Editor, The recent ‘quick inspections’ deemed a ‘compliance survey’ of vessels traversing the Essequibo and Mazaruni Rivers by the authorizing agency  unearthed several breaches by operators (INews February 10). 

Appalled by Mr Routledge’s response

Dear Editor, I was appalled and angered to read the President of ExxonMobil, Guyana, Alistair Routledge’s answer to a journalist when questioned about whether the 2016 Production Sharing Agreement between ExxonMobil and the Guyana government can be renegotiated.

On Friday afternoon a huge blaze engulfed the Parika Market, consuming not just the stalls within the complex but also those on the roadside as well, destroying many dozens of income sources in the process.

GuySuCo is not an island

Dear Editor, It is noted that GuySuCo’s Board of Directors has decided to engage private cane farmers ‘to accelerate the rehabilitation of fields’ according to SN of February 05, which goes on the report that ‘contracts have already been awarded to private contractors for the cultivation of 4,000 hectares of lands, in addition to GuySuCo’s 3,000 hectares.
