Dear Editor, I want to share with you a wonderful surprise that I saw.

There is no doubt that the 2023 budget which has been pegged at $781.9b, a hefty 44.1% above the 2022 figure, holds out the prospects of expansive development in the country.

Dear Editor, Having read GECOM`s release in response to an article carried in Kaieteur News on Friday, January 20, 2023 under the caption: “GECOM Chair goes it alone”, I wish to make the following observations.

Dear Editor, Budgets in Guyana always presage a season of discontent.

Dear Editor, This time, Mr. Vincent Alexander sought to dictate not only how GECOM should conduct its internal staffing arrangements but to deny the Chair’s role in supporting a legitimate recommendation from Vishnu Persaud, GECOM’s CEO to assign acting responsibilities to senior staffers.

Dear Editor, I scan some positions on the 2023 budget and discern that Guyanese have made choices, backed themselves into dark corners, may even like where they are, and how they make effigies of themselves. 

Dear Editor, National Leaders should never take our people for granted.

Dear Editor, It’s clear that the Five Cs of Driving: care, caution, consideration, common sense & courtesy on our roadways have been replaced with a new set of Cs: carelessness, caustic, contentious, callousness & cuss-out.

Dear Editor, From a layperson perspective it is difficult to understand how a person can be seconded, in an acting capacity, to a position not on the establishment or organization chart?

Traditionally issues related to historical preservation have never captured the attention of governments in this country.

Dear Editor, The year 2023 started on a positive note for most Guyanese.

Dear Editor, In the recent budget, billions of dollars were allocated for the development of Indigenous communities, institutions and other areas related to the development of the Indigenous People.

Dear Editor, Poor work by a contractor has led to severe flooding and brought untold misery and inconvenience to citizens in wards in south Georgetown. 

Dear Editor, Congratulations to His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, 9th.

Dear Editor, One cannot know the anger I felt when I looked at the latest video of the two men choking and robbing another male on the pavement.

Dear Editor, Those who know much better continue to observe the palpably inadequate presentation by GuySuCo’s so-called Head of Human Resources.

Dear Editor, I have noted some criticisms regarding the size of the old-age pension increase proposed in the 2023 budget.

Dear Editor, Governmental spending is at an all-time high. Investment opportunities in Guyana are zealously promoted, especially when our leaders travel abroad.
