Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the recent appointment of Trevor Bassoo as the Executive Director of the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS).
Dear Editor,
Inflation (price appreciation) around the world is measured by a physical basket of goods people rely on for sustenance (monthly, yearly), shelter and the cost for services are also included.
Dear Editor,
In a nation where the natural splendour of our landscape is only rivalled by the sparkling prowess of our gold, it seems almost poetic that we now find ourselves collectively holding our breath, waiting to see if the rule of law will glitter just as brightly.
Dear Editor,
The attempted assassination of Donald Trump’s made his nomination four days later as the Republican candidate for the US November election a formality but also practically assures him of a second term as President; notwithstanding who the Democrats select to oppose him.
Dear Editor,
In a letter published in the July 16, 2024 edition of the Stabroek News, Joel Bhagwandin admitted to being under contract with Exxon Mobil Guyana Limited (EMGL).
Dear Editor,
The recent letter in the press by Mr. Vieira was very revealing as to the extent of incompetence and inexperience involved in the Skeldon factory failure.
Dear Editor,
We have been following the Republican Convention and noticed many speakers making comments about LGBQT issues – that some people don’t know how to define “woman,” transgenders wanting to participate in women’s sports, people asking you to state your pronouns although they can see clearly you are a biological male or biological female, indoctrination of young children that there are many genders not boy and girl only, a single person wanting to be called “they,”etc.
Dear Editor,
Like most Guyanese, I am afraid to seek treatment at public hospitals because I lack confidence in the doctors, and private hospitals are prohibitively expensive.
The Constitution together with Guyana’s laws may seem complicated for the average citizen to decipher, but that notwithstanding most of the issues which they concern are easy to apprehend.
Dear Editor,
Re the Skeldon factory issue, I met Mr. Jagdeo, along with my father, in 1999 at Herdmanston House and we told him that expanding Skeldon was probably not a good plan.
Dear Editor,
Given the recent revelations of deep linkages between ExxonMobil and locals Nigel Hughes and Joel Bhagwandin (both of whom professed to represent the interests of the Guyanese people) it behooves ExxonMobil to publish a list of local persons and firms in its employ.
