Dear Editor,    The announcement that an APNU meeting was held and at that meeting, Vincent Henry of GAP was ‘elected’ as the new chairman of APNU must be seen for what it is; a coup being mounted against the democratically elected PNC leader, Aubrey Norton, by the Granger/Harmon faction and its surrogate candidate Roysdale Forde.

Use of “negro” by the police had been raised some years before

Dear Editor, The Cabinet of Thursday 6 June 2024 has taken the proverbial wind out of the sails of a potentially brewing contretemps, by taking immediate steps to issue a directive to the Police and Health Services (I always thought the Immigration Department was part of the GPF, if only for the simple reason that the Commissioner of Police, by Statute, is the Chief Immigration Officer).

Dear Editor, The recent repeated utterance by our Vice-President, asserting that the Opposition is unable to function irrespective of who were in the leadership positions, is to the minds of many of us fair-minded and democratic Guyanese just an effort to discredit this vital part of the Government, and to continue to perform what we believe unilaterally as a dictatorship.
