Dear Editor, I want to clarify what I believe to be a confusion concerning the ongoing debate of dual citizenship individuals, or dual nationals, in Parliament.

Dear Editor, Reference is made to the news story captioned `A disservice to Guyana’ (SN April 4) in which Minister Raphael Trotman calls for an amendment to the constitution that bars dual citizens from being Members of Parliament.

Dear Editor, Why are police retirees and other Government retirees afforded their monthly pensions over one week before retired soldiers?

Dear Editor, Whether it was a direct result of my letter to your newspaper (January 09, 2019) headlined “these two stretches of pavements at the stadium require work”, or a mere coincidence, I am happy to state that corrective action has been taken on issues/concerns (which were) highlighted.

Dear Editor, First their resignation was accepted with immediate effect, then portfolios to be handled by stand-ins, now earlier position recanted and resignations not effective immediately.

Dear Editor, I have been following the latest political developments in Guyana, more so since the No Confidence Motion was passed.

Dear Editor, The news article `Ali banking on experience to win polls, deliver 50,000-jobs promise’ (SN online, 07th April 2019) in which the PPP Presidential Candidate promises 50,000 jobs creation speaks volumes of how a PPP controlled by Bharrat Jagdeo is deluding themselves.

It has come to public notice that a clear conflict of interest arose sometime in 2017 at the ministry with responsibility for the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) after Minister Valerie Adams-Yearwood’s husband, Godfrey Yearwood, secured a contract to build houses for the same CH&PA.

Dear Editor, This past week, one of the architects of our relatively young nation, Eusi Kwayana, celebrated his 94th birthday.

Dear Editor, As before, I find myself compelled to respond to a news article appearing in the Kaieteur News, and on this occasion, under the caption: ‘Resistance by oil companies is no excuse to continue contract secrecy.

Dear Editor, I have been bombarded with questions about the letter I wrote in the Stabroek News of 4th April 2019 headlined, ‘Ill persons from mine should have been quarantined in Region One, not brought to city’.

Dear Editor, On March 6, 2019, Guyana was declared #1, Best of Top 100 Ecotourism Destinations in the world at the ITB Berlin travel trade show.

Dear Editor, When there are Guyanese who have integrity and do right by the position they hold, there is hope for our beautiful country.

Dear Editor, I was moved by the stirring article from Mosa Telford in her ‘Think on That’ series in the April 6th issue of Stabroek News titled, ‘Doomed if they leave and doomed if they stay’ in which she bemoaned the harsh cruelties often delivered to women by the very men who profess love to them!

Last week, with his customary flair for the melodramatic, Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo held a press conference to announce that his party had found evidence of a “people smuggling racket” in the Department of Citizenship aimed at inserting the names of foreigners into the voting list.
