Changes from COVID

It is undoubtedly true that one of the early effects of the COVID-19 pandemic is the rather sudden realisation of aspects of daily life which had become part of the fabric, so that we had unconsciously come to see them as a given and were therefore jolted by not being able to simply go where the crowds are as in, for me, dinners at Grand Coastal and the very attentive hamburger service at the Pegasus Poolside or the latest film at the cinema.

Life’s wonders

               “The unexamined life is not worth living” – Socrates. When I was no more than twelve or thirteen the feeling grew in me that it was important not simply to live life day by day but somehow to give greater meaning to it by recording what was happening every one of those days and by planning how I should shape and what I should make of my life in the future.

Weekend baking Crustless Quiche

Weekends are about treats. And while it also the time we take to make many things to fill the Sunday lunch or dinner table – often with no space left to actually sit and eat at the table – it is also the time that some of us take to cut back on the cooking.
